Artist Talks and Workshops

About the Artist

Amy Jones is a Sydney-based contemporary artist, textile practitioner, and qualified Visual Arts teacher whose work explores memory, landscape, materiality, and emotional connection to place through painting, textiles, and mixed media processes.

Working across both traditional and experimental techniques, Amy’s practice combines painting, stitching, layering, surface manipulation, and reclaimed materials to create richly textured works that sit between abstraction and landscape. Her practice is strongly informed by contemporary artist practice, process-led experimentation, and the expressive potential of materials.

In 2025, Amy was awarded the Australian Fibre Art Award for her contemporary textile practice.

Alongside her studio practice, Amy is a qualified secondary Visual Arts teacher with experience supporting diverse learners and designing engaging, inclusive creative learning experiences. Her workshops encourage students to experiment, take creative risks, and develop confidence in their own ideas and artistic voice.

Amy offers curriculum-aligned school incursions for primary and secondary students in:

  • Visual Arts

  • Textiles and Design

  • Mixed media and experimental practice

  • Contemporary drawing and painting

  • Sustainable and recycled art practices

  • Artist talks and creative mentoring

Workshops can be tailored to support NSW syllabus outcomes and may include artist talks, hands-on making sessions, collaborative projects, and discussions around contemporary art and design practice.

Amy holds a current NSW Working With Children Check.
